Ministries
Global Outreach Haiti Mission has many areas of ministry that are used to share the love of Christ with the Haitian people. Once again, our mission is to show the love of Christ to the total man.
Conference Center
A conference center is located on the mission campus. Twenty to twenty-five conferences are hosted each year ministering to 2,500- 3,000
teachers, pastors, youth, and medical personnel. The conference center is equipped with a large dining hall, kitchen, dorms, and open-air chapel to accommodate up to 212 people per conference.
Judy Heady currently runs the conference center. Scheduling and meal planning are just a few of the many responsibilities that come with running the conference center.
Haitian staff are employed to prepare meals and have rooms ready for conference participants.
Well Drilling
Since purchasing a well drilling rig in 1993 Global Missionary Staff have drilled 187 wells in the surrounding villages to provide the people of Haiti with potable water. Many villages find their men, women, and children sickly from lack of access to clean water. It is Global’s desire to provide these people with clean water while sharing the gospel and the love of Christ through the message of the ‘Living Water’. When a community gets a well, they are required to provide the land for th
e well location, meals for the Global’s Haitian workers while they are at the well site, and guards to watch the well rigs overnight. This not only involves the people in the community, it excites them to know they’ve had a part in providing clean water to their community.
Global Outreach Haiti compound has several on-site wells, some of which are used to supply the Haitian people in three nearby communities with 5,000 gallons of clean water each day. People from these communities come to the public fountain to wash clothes, water their animals, and carry water home to their families.
Wells are financed by generous donations from supporters- Sunday School classes, churches, individuals, etc. The cost for a 100ft. well, including pump, is $3,500 US. The cost for a 200ft well with a hand pump is $5,500 US.
Feeding Program
Each day 292 children are fed at the kindergarten, morning, and afternoon schools. Haitian ladies are hired to cook, feed, and clean-up.
Gran Moun Feeding Program
Ann Kendall overseas the Gran Moun feeding program. Every Monday morning 62 elderly people, ages 50 and older, line-up at the gate to
receive one week’s supply of rice, corn, beans, oil, tomato paste, spaghetti noodles, and spices. During this time, Global’s staff pray, sing, and share the gospel with these elderly people. The clinic is also available to them to meet their basic needs and receive things such as vitamins, toothpaste, and soap. The feeding program was designed to meet the most basic needs of the elderly people in the surrounding area. There are only 62 spaces available and there is currently a waiting list of 15-18 people. It cost $40 US a month to feed one Gran Moun.
Global’s kindergarten school was started in 1992 and provide a beginning education for 124 three, four, and five year olds.
The morning school was started in 2001 and has 72, first, second, and third graders. Each child receives a good education from Global’s qualified Haitian teachers. Bible teaching is an important part of their daily schooling.
The afternoon school was started in 1988 when Global’s staff here in Haiti saw a need for the children that work in the
homes of others to have an education. The afternoon school is not strictly for those children, but also provides education opportunities to very poor children who may not otherwise have an opportunity to attend school. This is a four year program that serves 96 students.
It cost $200 US each year for a child to attend school up 6th grade.
This cost covers their books, uniforms, school
supplies, a meal each day, and their tuition.
Burn Clinic
In a country where open fires are the main way of cooking, kerosene lamps provid
e light, and many children are left unattended, many people are burned. Global Haiti Mission operates a burn clinic staffed by Sheryl Brumley and Susan Bruns, both Registered Nurses. Global Haiti Mission’s burn clinic exist to minister to the physical needs of the Haitian people cost free to the patient. The burn clinic is meeting a huge need in this country where health care is minimal and too expensive for the average Haitian to afford. The clinic is run on financial and medical supply donations, and most importantly, prayer and God’s grace.
Global Haiti Mission has helped plant and build six different churches in Haiti. David Heady preaches at four local churches each month, on
national radio, revivals and teaching seminars.
Chris Brumley leads a Leadership class at a nearby church in the village of Titanyen.
The gospel is shared at each new well drilling site and The Jesus Film along with The Passion of the Christ is shown at each conference as well as in churches and remote open area arenas.
